Description

This is something i wanted to share with everyone on DA. This is my Dad's Tiny House. He built this himself and is currently in the finishing process. The outside is complete and the inside will be complete by April.
Question: What is a Tiny House?
Answer: tiny house (referring to the "Tiny House Movement")
Simply put it is a social movement where people are downsizing the space that they live in. The typical American home is around 2600 square feet, while the typical small or tiny house is around 400 square feet. Tiny Houses come in all shapes, sizes and forms but they focus on smaller spaces, simplified living.
People are joining this movement for many reasons, but the most popular reasons are because of environmental concerns, financial concerns and seeking more time and freedom. For most Americans 1/3 of their income is dedicated to the roof over their heads, this translates to 15 years of working over your life time just to pay for it.
The Average Cost of Buying A Home over 30 years (2600 sq ft)
Purchase Price (typical single family home) = $290,000
Down Payment = $58,000
Principal = $232,000
Interest @ 6.41% =$291,000 (after taxes) = $195,000
Taxes & Insurance ($6,000/year) =$180,000
Maintenance ($300/month) =$108,000
Major Repairs and Improvements =$300,000
TOTAL COSTS OVER 30 YEAR TIME PERIOD =$1,073,000
As for a Tiny House it is much cheaper, my Dad's Company will be selling Tiny houses for and estimated (depends on what floor plan you want) Measley $30,000 Total. And it comes with options like solar powered energy so you won't have to deal with large energy bills.

I love the Tiny House movement, and your dad's house pictured. I owned a traditional house that became far too large for my needs. My next house will be a Tiny House on a truck body, or on a trailer chassis.

I'll follow the Facebook link. :)
